Yellow Reaper

Bhut Jolokia (Ghost Pepper)

Originally from Bangladesh, the Bhut Jolokia (Ghost Pepper) was the first "super-hot" pepper known to exceed the heat of the Red Savina Habanero. The Bhut Jolokia's heat level averages a frightenling hot 1 million on the Scoville scale.

Contains 1 ounce of powdered Ghost pepper. $6.00

Habanero

The (not so) humble Habanero packs hefty punch of flavor along with a respectable heat. Averaging about 250,000 Scoville, it isn't as brutal as the super-hots but still provides plenty of spice to accentuate its sweet fruitiness.

Contains 1 ounce of powdered Habanero pepper. $5.00

Habanada (No-heat Habanero)

Created by a plant breeder at Cornell University with the goal of sharing the floral and fruity Habanero flavor with friends who couldn't take the heat, the Habanada doesn't register on the Scoville scale at all, with a heat level of ZERO.

Contains 1 ounce of powdered Habanada. $8.00

Available

Mild Habanero

This blend of Habanada and Habanero gives a great kick of fruity Habanero flavor with only a mild heat. We estimate this is about as hot as a Jalapeno, about 5000 Scoville.

The Scoville Scale

Chile Pepper heat is measured on the Scoville Scale. Created in the early 1900's by pharmacist Wilbur Scoville, it is a scale to quantify exactly how hot (or pungent) a given pepper or sauce actually is.

Common peppers like the Anaheim or Jalapeno measure around 2000 or 5000 on the scale, respectively. By contrast, super-hots like the Ghost Pepper rate 1,000,000 Scoville. Pure capsaicin (the chemical that gives peppers their heat) is 16,000,000.
