This is a basic sauce that you can make in minutes using powdered Hatch chile. It’s great for covering enchiladas, spooning over tamales, slow-cooking meat, or anything else you might want a flavorful sauce with.
Ingredients
- 1 Cup water
- 1/4 Cup Hatch chile powder
- 1/2 tsp Salt
- 1/2 tsp Sugar
- 1/2 tsp Cumin
Directions
Mix everything but the chile powder into a saucepan, then sift the chile in while stirring, then warm. I recommend a whisk to mix. Sifting isn’t absolutely necessary but it prevents clumping so the chile mixes better.
